Not Good Enough! Feel Familiar?

Updated: Apr 3

Not feeling good enough comes hand in hand with #anxiety and #self-doubt. The #fear can be so powerful in can prevent you from succeeding which can turn to #regrets and #shame.

Having a low self esteem and not feeling good enough is damaging to our self worth.

It can happen to the anyone at any stage in our lives and affect us both personally & professionally.

Counselling seeks to explore and understand negative thoughts so their power can be removed, by doing this it allows a person to cope in the moment and grow as a person by learning techniques to change and find peace.

The 'what if' can creep into our thought process without us being fully aware.

'Will I fall short of others expectation in me? Will I be able to do it? Will I disappoint? Could I make it worse? Can I handle it? In other words, ‘Am I good enough?’

#Self-doubt and #anxiety once present can create many barriers in every day life and impact on our future. It is important to differentiate between self-doubt that is constructive and that which is #damaging. Self-doubt provides an opportunity to question ourselves take a step back to consider other options and is totally healthy and normal. However when it is loaded with anxiety, and fueled by thoughts such as '#imposter syndrome' it has the potential to inhibit daily life and hold us back.

#Counselling is a great way to develop an understanding of its origins to help reduce its power and provide us with important insight and awareness to combat and overcome.

If you are acting as one person in front of others and feeling very different inside with a fear of being exposed, it can be a heavy weight to carry and feel #overwhelming that affect our self worth.

Life can be tough sometimes, and we present ourselves to the outside world as capable, as we strive to appear resilient or together, it underpins us and what those around us perceive. Some of us may often hide the internal fraudster when navigating our way through #stress and issues in an attempt to #survive and keep going.

We put on our masks, take pride in how well we cope, whilst inside the #distress of playing that role takes hold, the fear of exposure and the stress of keeping up the illusion feels like a heavy daily #burden. This feeling can potentially destabilise us with unwelcomed and all consuming anxiety and self-doubt. If fighting an internal battle of this nature you may be struggling with a low self esteem and counselling will help gain some control back.

#Counselling with a trained #therapist helps you identify underlying experiences, beliefs or negative circumstances that contribute to self-doubt so you can get to know triggers, gain insight and #self-awareness to enable the process of understanding and reframing your #self-perception. By providing an opportunity to highlight and challenge negative #self-thoughts, identify and change negative #self-talk to create healthier, realistic and a more positive belief system.

#Counsellors are trained to listen without judgment and offer empathy with compassion to create a genuine #therapeutic relationship so anyone experiencing self-doubt can feel understood and #validated. Feeling heard and accepted creates a space for you to explore self-doubts openly, instead of suppressing and hiding, this openness can come with a great sense of relief.

“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am,

then I can change." Carl Rodgers
